Tysk delstat visar vägen för sänkt mobilstrålning

Den tyska delstaten Baden-Würtenbergs nya regering har besltutat införa restriktioner som syftar till att begränsa strålningen från mobiltelefonisystemet, inklusive bland annat krav på byggnadstillstånd för antenner och rättighet för medborgarna att påverka placeringen av basstationer. Detta ligger i linje med Europaparlamentets nyligen framställda krav. Sverige ligger långt efter på detta område.

Det gläder oss att man man vill stärka tillämpningan av försiktighetsprincipen precis som vi framhävt, se ”Hög tid för försiktighetsprincipen”.

Up until recently, governments have always used to downplay the risk of wireless communication technologies under pressure from the lobby, especially with the argument of exposure limits. For the first time, a government has abandoned this game of downplaying the risks and points the way in a different direction. The Coalition Agreement of the new state government of Baden Württemberg states in its chapter on Environmental Policy as a Health and Social Policy (English translation):

“We will reinforce the precautionary principle and technology assessment. For cell antennas below 10 meters, we will reintroduce the requirement for a building permit authorization. Municipalities and the public shall be given greater rights of participation regarding the siting of cell towers. In communication with those affected, we will also develop strategies to minimize the exposure to electromagnetic fields. On a federal level, we will work toward lowering the exposure limits of electromagnetic radiation.” (p. 37)
